Sir,
I am directed by the Lords Commissioners of the Admiralty to acquaint you, for the information of the Right Honorable the Earl Grey, that their Lordships have been pleased to give leave of absence for 18 months commencing from the 1st July last, to Mr. W. T. Mercer, the Colonial Treasurer of Hong Kong, now about to leave this Country, - on the half Salary of his Office at the rate of £500 per annum, which will fall due to him upon his producing to you the requisite Certificate.
